I think this quote can apply to many people and not just Winston Churchill. Sometimes you just don’t want to be taught but rather learn in your own manner and time.
The American education system of course does not reward nonconformity when it comes to learning styles so we’re often left without a choice. Learning on your own can gain you some of the most rewarding knowledge in life. It’s just kind of sad that this is where we are something like 85 years after this quote.
