Mermaids: The Body Found Part I

I’d just like to make it clear that the Animal Planet documentary Mermaids: The Body Found is completely fake.

In fact, it isn’t even a documentary. It’s a mockumentary.

Mermaids: The Body Found aired on Animal Planet in 2012 with the rather insane claim by a “scientist” to have found evidence of mermaids.
These mermaids were being covered up and kept by the United States Navy in a secret facility (much like how the US Air Force has aliens).

Well, you need to know those scientists are actually Animal Planet actors. Dr. Rodney Webster, Dr Brian McCormick, and Rebecca Davis are not real. They are fictional scientists in this fictional documentary about fictional mermaids.

It is not right that Animal Planet is so facetious with its viewers. There is nothing wrong with a little mystery, hope, and fantasy. There is something wrong with claiming that fantasy is real and not clearly telling people the documentary they are watching is in fact fictional.

Animal Planet throughout the documentary Mermaids: The Body Found makes it seem like they are the skeptics and all the information they’re telling you, they’re just as skeptical of. This gives the audience a false sense that since these “facts” were doubted, they looked deeper into them, so what the show is presenting must be truthful. It’s a deception. They even use their little popups to make you believe this is serious, truthful, and well researched.
