Prismatic Evolutions Surprise boxes have skyrocketed in price in the last few days to nearly $100 a piece for no other reasons than the fear of missing out and hype.
Greed may also be playing a part here. People may very well be purchasing Surprise Boxes in the hope that they can ride the hype wave even higher and profit off of the boxes. Which is sad. This is supposed to be a hobby and not a profit center after all.
We are up to $99.50 for a single Surprise Box. For comparison I have my Surprise Boxes pre ordered for $23 each. So people are paying about FOUR TIMES as much for the same dang box. That’s just crazy.
The Prismatic Evolutions hype has gotten completely out of hand. It is not that great of a set and is going to be a nightmare to collect. For one thing people are sick of the gem crowns on the Pokemon before the cards have even been released, for another the set has so many variants. Not to mention the pull rates are apparently pretty poor.
I don’t know how long Pokemon can continue with all of these hoarders and investors buying up every pack they can find. It’s like Pokemania all over again.
