Reddit is Going Nuts Over Prismatic Evolutions Prices and Scalpers

Reddit is going absolutely nuts over Prismatic Evolutions product prices and the audacity of scalpers. The posts are endless, or at least feel endless.

The common theme is that scalpers are charging ridiculous prices, people are paying those prices, and scalpers are taking all of the product out of the hands of real collectors and players. All of which is true.

But it’s not all just scalpers. Local card and game stores are also raising prices across the board on Prismatic Evolutions products. The stores are now pricing product at or above market prices… which means over $100 for a surprise box for example.

Reddit is right to be mad.

Prismatic Evolutions availability is atrocious, the hit rate is poor, and the prices insanely harsh. I think we can thank The Pokemon Company for part of this mess and Pokemania for the rest. They hype for basically all new Pokemon sets is out of control. I can’t help but think Bitcoin bros are looking for alternative investments in the Pokemon market but that’s pure speculation.

Everything is a mess.

The Pokemon hobby is going to die if scalpers, speculators, and hoarders continue to dominate product allocation. Kids are literally just looking for a pack or two of Pokemon cards to be met with empty shelves or quite literally some dude buying over 100 packs. If kids can’t participate then what are we doing? Turning what was originally a kids game into some kind of cryptocurrency lite? An alternative investment? Because that makes sense?

It seems shiny cardboard is getting the best of us.
