The Pokemon Company Claims It’s Reprinting Prismatic Evolutions – Will Prices Go Down?

The Pokemon Company recently announced they will be reprinting Prismatic Evolutions, so will the price of Prismatic Evolutions product go down back to MSRP? Probably not is the answer to that.

You see The Pokemon Company already has a set print and release schedule for the Prismatic Evolutions set. They also already have Journey Together, the Team Rocket set, and Surging Sparks to print among another handful of other sets. Their printers have already been pumping out cards, with literally billions of cards printed in the last few years. I imagine The Pokemon Company does have extra capacity but I’d guess not much.

While I believe that The Pokemon Company absolutely will add on one or two print runs on top of what they’re already doing I don’t believe it’ll be enough to satisfy demand. I don’t believe it’ll satisfy demand because of how the set is structured. There are a lot of variants of cards to collect and pull rates are poor. This means people will need more and more packs to try to get the cards they want or need for a master set. At least that’ll be good for singles prices!

But for the average person this set is ridiculous. You can’t get Prismatic Evolutions products at MSRP, the pull rate isn’t that great, there are a ton of variants… It’s just bad. People are legitimately leaving the hobby out of disgust for people’s behavior and the money grab Prismatic Evolutions fells like.

Prices just are not going to go down without serious reprints from The Pokemon Company and we’re probably not going to get enough product to satisfy demand. That’s basically all there is too it. Very high demand, low supply.

If The Pokemon Company does not do real reprints and get product to people at MSRP nobody is going to forget their failure. We’ll just have to see what happens.
