So you guys do know that Broadcom is probably going to fire everyone on Intel’s design side right? Broadcom doesn’t care about national security and has no interest in gaining that many employees.
Broadcom has no reason to consider that firing Intel’s design side employees will drastically hurt the United State’s ability to design advanced semiconductors… at a time when being able to design advanced semiconductors is an absolute national priority. And the Trump Administration seems to have little understanding of that fact. The Trump Administration doesn’t seem to understand anything except nearly meaningless macro actions like tariffs on semiconductors.
And why on earth would Broadcom want that many employees? From their perspective they have no idea what to do with them. It’s the designs and patents that matter most. Employees are dead weight. Not to mention Broadcom probably knows that Intel’s high value, high skilled, workers have already left the company. What’s left are a high number of meaningless managers and lower skilled employees.
So say hello to layoffs in the tens of thousands.
Things aren’t looking great and nobody should be rooting for Broadcom to gain Intel’s design business. The consequences to national security far outweigh the cost of keeping Intel an independent company.
